VOICES IN COLOUR - Banner Making Workshops

This is where creativity meets kaupapa. Guided by community artist Maungarongo Ron Te Kawa, we will design unapologetic banners that speak to our strength. Ron is known for turning collective stories into bold, visible art. You can read more about Ron and his work here:

Avonside Drive entrance

Off Wodham Road and down to 180 Avonside Drive, turn right into campus

Other things to note:

  • You don’t need to sew or be “arty” to take part – just bring your ideas, energy, and whānau. Ron says, “There are never any mistakes".

  • Please bring kai and snacks to share if you can – creating takes energy!

  • We’ll create slogans and designs that reflect our stories and demand change.

  • These banners will lead the rally, and afterwards will be displayed publicly as a legacy of our movement.

  • This will be fun, community-driven, and impactful – a chance to connect, laugh, and make something powerful together.
